Job summary

Sheridan Maine, on behalf of an established High Wycombe accounting firm, invites an experienced Senior Accountant to join its team on a full‑time, permanent basis.

You will manage a varied client portfolio, prepare statutory and management accounts, and handle corporation and personal tax returns while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Several years' experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong experience in accounts preparation, including statutory accounts.
• Good knowledge of corporation and personal taxation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Proactive and commercially minded approach.
• Qualified ACA or ACCA, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact and building strong working relationships.
• Prepare statutory and management accounts for a range of businesses.
• Prepare and review corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Support clients with day-to-day accounting queries and provide practical financial guidance.
• Assist with VAT returns and other compliance requirements.
• Review accounts and tax work prepared by junior team members.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information and meet deadlines.
• Support Partners with more complex accounting and tax matters.
• Identify opportunities to provide additional support and value to clients.
• Mentor and develop more junior team members.
