Job summary

Midland Heart is seeking a Portfolio Officer to turn complex data into meaningful portfolio insight. You will monitor change information, quality assure reporting, and provide constructive challenge to ensure reporting meets required standards.

Based at our Bath Row office in Central Birmingham with a mix of in-office and home-working, you will help support portfolio planning, prioritisation and decision-making through accurate dashboards and insightful analysis.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to turn detailed information into useful insight.
• Good digital and data literacy, including experience using reporting and project/portfolio systems.
• An organised approach and the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines accurately.
• An improvement mindset and an interest in strengthening reporting, controls and ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate portfolio reporting cycles constructively challenging gaps, inconsistencies or areas of concern in project and change information.
• Review and quality assure delivery information, including RAG assessments, risks, issues, finances and benefits.
• Produce portfolio reports, dashboards and insight that support effective decision making.
• Analyse information to identify trends, recurring themes, exceptions and emerging concerns.
• Monitor milestones, scope changes, risks, issues and dependencies across the portfolio.
• Review resource, financial and benefits information and highlight pressures or exceptions requiring further attention.
• Support portfolio assurance and review activity, identifying gaps, exceptions and areas requiring follow up or escalation.
• Work with Project and Portfolio Delivery Managers to strengthen the quality and consistency of delivery information and controls.
