Job summary

Places for People is recruiting a Porter to join the on-site team in London. The role is a daytime, four-hour shift from Monday to Friday, focused on keeping the development safe, well-presented and welcoming for residents and visitors.

You will support site security, health and safety checks, assist residents when needed, and work closely with the House Manager, cleaning teams and wider operations. A hands-on, customer-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in building services such as concierge or caretaking.
  • Emergency First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day site security and monitor access as required.
  • Assist with health and safety compliance checks across the development.
  • Be a visible presence on site and assist residents and visitors when needed.
  • Support the on-site cleaning team with additional tasks as directed.
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure accurate information sharing.
  • Respond to incidents or emergencies in line with procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional customer experience across the development.
  • Provide information to the Property Manager daily.

Job description

We're recruiting for a Porter to join our on‑site team, working during the day to help ensure the development remains safe, well‑presented and welcoming for residents and visitors.

This is a visible, service‑focused role where you'll support site security, carry out health and safety checks, assist residents when needed and work closely with the House Manager, cleaning teams and wider operations colleagues to ensure smooth day‑to‑day running of the site.

St Leonards Terrace , Sloane Square, London SW3 4QQ

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 12.30pm ( 4 hours per day )

What you'll be doing
  • Supporting day‑to‑day site security and monitoring access as required
  • Assisting with health and safety compliance checks across the development
  • Being a visible presence on site and assisting residents and visitors when needed
  • Supporting the on‑site cleaning team with additional tasks as directed
  • Working closely with the operations team to ensure accurate information sharing
  • Responding appropriately to incidents or emergencies in line with procedures
  • Contributing to a positive, professional customer experience across the development
  • Providing information to the Property Manager on a daily basis
What we're looking for
Essential
  • Experience working in building services such as concierge or caretaking
  • Emergency First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
  • Experience working in a customer‑facing, on‑site role
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Basic working knowledge of IT systems
