Job summary

Stena Line is seeking a Port Maintenance Operative to provide on-site maintenance support for the Technical Services team and help keep port facilities and machinery safe and operational. You will join a close-knit team, learn new skills, and take on varied tasks across the port.

The role offers outdoor work across weather conditions, with training provided for access by boats and in confined spaces. This is a full-time, permanent position within our Port Operations/Technical Services team.

Qualifications

• Basic educational or vocational training in construction, maintenance or a similar practical environment.
• Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
• Good attention to health and safety.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing requirements.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Qualified painter and decorator or equivalent experience.
• Relevant machinery or plant driving certificates (e.g., Telehandler, Forklift, Tractor & Trailer).
• Health and Safety training.
• CSCS or similar certification for construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and respond to defects across the port to support safe and efficient operation.
• Carry out general inspections and upkeep of the port, reporting issues to Supervisor.
• Operate machinery and equipment when trained and qualified.
• Maintain maintenance documentation for port machinery and equipment.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external contractors, ensuring work is safe and to standard.
