Job summary

AV Dawson is a multimodal freight logistics and port operator on the River Tees in Middlesbrough. We seek a Shipping Co-ordinator to support shipping, commercial and port operations, coordinating vessel information, maintaining records, and ensuring chargeable services are captured and invoiced accurately.

The role requires organised, detail-focused individuals with strong communication to manage priorities and provide proactive customer service in a busy operational environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in shipping, port operations, logistics, customs administration or commercial support.
• Familiarity with Destin8 and vessel documentation.
• Organised and detail-focused with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support to Shipping and Commercial teams and circulate vessel programme updates.
• Maintain Destin8 and other systems, ensure customs clearances and cargo movements are processed.
• Maintain records of vessel movements, cargo details, costs for reporting and analysis.
• Verify vessel information, ship logs, purchase orders and charge descriptions for invoicing.
• Monitor chargeable services and ensure invoices are raised promptly.
• Support set-up of new customers, including credit checks and data accuracy.
• Liaise with customers, shipping agents and colleagues with timely updates.
• Respond to enquiries and provide high-quality customer service.
• Ensure vessel records and supporting documentation are complete and compliant.
• Provide out-of-hours support for shipping desk responsibilities when required.
