Job summary

Service Care Solutions are recruiting a Port Health Administrator to join a busy Border Control operation based in Ashford, Kent. This is primarily an office-based administrative position, supporting the processing of imported goods entering the UK.

Full training will be provided on the relevant systems, processes and procedures. Alongside your administrative responsibilities, you will provide support to Environmental Health Officers and Official Veterinarians carrying out inspections within the

Qualifications

• Previous administrative experience in a busy environment.
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
• Flexibility to work a full rotating shift, including nights and weekends.
• Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene.
• Experience in food safety/logistics/port health would be advantageous, training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete documentary checks using IPAFFS and internal systems.
• Use AI-assisted systems to process and verify documentation.
• Carry out CHED and IUU document checks.
• Respond to enquiries from import agents and hauliers by phone and email.
• Escalate queries and issues where needed.
• Assist Environmental Health Officers and Official Veterinarians during inspections.
• Record inspection information using tablets and PHILIS system.
• Support sampling activities and detention procedures.
• Coordinate vehicle movements across the Border Control Post.
• Liaise with multiple agencies to support efficient processing of consignments.
• Maintain records and stay updated with changes in legislation and disease outbreaks.
