Job summary

Biotage in Cardiff is seeking a Polymer/Organic Chemist to join our R&D team and drive the development of media for consumable products. This hands-on role blends polymer, surface and synthetic chemistry, moving ideas from lab to commercial application.

You design and test new polymer chemistries, plan experiments, troubleshoot processing challenges with R&D and manufacturing, and contribute to IP development while advancing product development.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in synthetic, polymer or related chemistry.
• Strong background in polymerisation and surface/synthetic chemistry.
• Industrial or R&D exposure is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new polymer and media chemistries for consumable product development.
• Plan and execute experimental programmes, analyse results and guide decisions.
• Troubleshoot chemistry and process challenges with R&D and manufacturing.
• Present findings to project teams and stakeholders to shape direction.
• Contribute to new IP and stay updated on emerging chemistry and competitors.
• Support day-to-day activities and standards in the polymer lab.
