Job summary

Agilent Technologies Inc. in Church Stretton, England, seeks an expert-level R&D Scientist to drive innovations in polymeric and silica particle technologies for chromatography and biopharma.

You will lead complex polymer synthesis, particle manufacturing, and surface functionalization, while guiding long-term technology strategy and mentoring teams to deliver scalable production-ready processes.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MS in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Typically 8+ years’ experience with polymer/organic synthesis, particle manufacturing, functionalization, and materials characterization.
• Working knowledge of chromatography and biopharma applications.
• Proven track record solving complex problems and delivering innovative solutions.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical efforts and developing new product strategies.
• Strong communication skills to translate complex concepts into business insights.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead to drive innovations across chromatography, diagnostics, and biopharma consumables.
• Independently design and execute polymer synthesis, particle manufacture and surface functionalization.
• Lead or contribute to major R&D projects and guide cross-functional teams.
• Lead tech transfer from R&D to manufacturing ensuring robustness and scalability.
• Act as internal consultant for high-impact product, process, or materials issues.
• Help define long-term technology strategies and roadmaps for polymeric or silica particle tech.
• Prepare and deliver high-impact technical presentations to senior leadership.
• Lead and contribute to IP generation, including invention disclosures and patent apps.
• Mentor and train staff to strengthen scientific capability.
