Synthomer, a leading polymers company, is seeking an Advanced Chemist - Polymers to join its R&D team in Harlow. The role focuses on developing new polymer products, formulations and applications, with hands-on lab and scale-up work across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science or related, or a Degree with 2+ years industrial experience.
• Strong understanding of polymer chemistry and how composition affects performance.
• Experience in product development, formulation, process development or manufacturing scale-up.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to interpret data and make recommendations.
• Knowledge of IP, patents and regulatory considerations in development environments.
• Experience contributing to safety improvements, writing SOPs and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical workstreams within R&D projects delivering polymer products, formulations and applications.
• Design, conduct and interpret experimental programmes with rigorous analysis.
• Develop expertise in your area and transfer insights from adjacent technologies.
• Plan and oversee lab, pilot plant and manufacturing trials for scale-up.
• Support launch of new products and troubleshoot during initial production.
