Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a NESO Policy Manager, Strategic Planning, to shape the GB energy system from our Glasgow/Perth base. You will lead policy positions on strategic planning and coordinate submissions to NESO, influencing regulatory outcomes and stakeholder engagement.

Key focus is on strategic energy planning and NESO collaboration to shape GB energy plans through 2050, while working with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GB electricity markets and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in energy policy, regulation, strategic planning, market design, or related areas within the energy sector.
• Excellent analytical, planning, and organisational skills.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset with the confidence to influence across teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of SSEN Transmission's policy positions on strategic planning.
• Coordinate and deliver submissions, responses and information requests to NESO and stakeholders.
• Analyse policy and regulatory developments and advise on risks and opportunities.
• Support senior leaders by identifying and communicating risks, opportunities, and implications.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external partners for collaboration.
