Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Lead Policy Engineer to shape policy across Asset Operations, including safety, health, environment, security and compliance. You’ll translate legislative requirements into practical guidance for frontline teams and collaborate with engineers, safety specialists and senior leaders to ensure a safe, compliant and resilient operating environment.

The role is hybrid with flexible working options and sits within the Asset Operations Policy Team.

Qualifications

• Experience developing, implementing or applying operational procedures, standards or policies within an engineering, utilities or infrastructure environment.
• Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and its application within operational settings.
• Ability to translate technical or regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures across Asset Operations.
• Translate legislation and standards into practical guidance for operational teams.
• Provide expert advice on SHES matters to engineers and business leaders.
• Support compliance with legislation, industry standards and National Grid requirements.
• Chair working groups and drive continuous improvement across the policy framework.
• Develop and deliver training and communications to embed policies.
