National Grid plc is seeking a Lead Policy Engineer to join our Asset Operations Policy Team. The role is based within UK offices and offers hybrid working with flexible options. No sponsorship is available.

Qualifications

• Experience developing, implementing or applying operational procedures, standards or policies.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation in the UK.
• Ability to influence at all levels and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures for Asset Operations activities across the transmission network.
• Translate legislation and standards into practical guidance for operational teams.
• Provide expert advice on SHES matters to engineers, teams and senior leaders.
• Support compliance with legislation, standards and National Grid requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Asset Operations, Safety, Assurance, Legal, Asset Management and Procurement.
• Brief senior management on policy developments, risks and implementation activities.
• Develop and deliver training and communications to embed policies.
• Review audits and incidents and reflect lessons learned in policies.
• Chair working groups and drive continuous improvement of the policy framework.
• Support safe, compliant and resilient operation of substations and transmission assets.
