Zusammenfassung

SP Electricity North West in Kendal invites applications for a Groundworker on a fixed-term basis. You will support grounds maintenance, vegetation control and overhead line inspections to keep substations safe and compliant, often working independently with supervision as needed.

You’ll hold necessary authorisations and training (H100, PA1/PA6, First Aid, heat-detection camera, live-pole detector) and participate in safety-focused activities while contributing to a reliable electricity network.

Qualifikationen

• Emergency First Aid at Work.
• Brushcutter, mower and hedge-cutter qualifications through NPTC or Lantra.
• PA1 and PA6 qualifications through NPTC.
• Training in the use of a heat-detection camera.
• Training in the use of an approved live-pole detection device.
• Storm reconnaissance training and authorisation.

Aufgaben

• Carry out vegetation clearance and grounds maintenance at substations and other key sites, using authorised tools and equipment to maintain safe working environments.
• Complete overhead line surveys and post-fault inspections, including high-voltage line patrols to identify insulator defects, clearance issues and other conditions that could cause circuit faults.
• Report hazards and defects promptly, supporting the safe operation and maintenance of the electricity network.
• Respond promptly to customer complaints and issues relating to vegetation and fly-tipping.
• Work predominantly as a lone worker, supporting team activities when operational requirements demand.
• Follow health and safety requirements, use and care for the personal protective equipment provided, and complete work in accordance with company safety standards.
• Use mobile-device applications to receive and follow work instructions, alongside guidance from supervisors.
• Complete allocated tasks efficiently and to a high standard, meeting daily targets.
• Maintain your company vehicle and follow cost-effective fuel practices.
• Represent SP Electricity North West professionally and uphold a positive public image when working on site and responding to customers.

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (12 Months initially)
Starting Salary: £30,102.60

This important operational role will support the delivery of grounds maintenance and overhead line inspection activities within ENWS. As a Groundworker, you will help keep substation sites safe for authorised colleagues to carry out their work, maintaining vegetation, clearing debris and identifying hazards across sites owned and maintained by SP Electricity North West. You will work predominantly independently, joining wider teams when required.

The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.
