Job description

A Fantastic Opportunity: LV Field Operations Lead (Jointers)

SP Electricity North West manages and invests in the power network that supplies electricity to the 2.4m homes and businesses across the North West. Our 2,400 colleagues manage the 13,000km of overhead lines, 44,000km of underground cables and thousands of electricity substations to keep power flowing and supporting green growth. We’re one of six distribution network operators in the UK and are regulated by Ofgem.

We’re proud that in December 2024 we were named Utility of the Year by Utility Week magazine who said we punched above our weight and used innovation to solve some of the industry’s most difficult challenges. Come and be part of our team and make a difference.

Now part of the Iberdrola and ScottishPower group, we’re collectively building smarter, greener electricity networks that will get Britain growing by investing in a better future, quicker.

What you'll be doing:

  • Act as a technical point of contact for operational teams, responding to queries and offering expert advice to support the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of work.
  • Undertake regular safety audits and promote a positive safety culture by encouraging best practice, reinforcing company standards and addressing unsafe behaviours where necessary.
  • Support the evaluation, development and implementation of new workstreams, contributing operational expertise to business growth opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Produce and analyse performance, productivity and quality reports using Power BI and other business systems, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to management.
  • Coordinate training, personal supervision and competency development for employees and contractors, while supporting succession planning and technical progression across the wider team.
  • Manage field resource planning, including rotas, annual leave, training requirements and work allocation, ensuring appropriate coverage and deployment of skills across operational activities.
  • Work closely with planning, design and scheduling teams to ensure projects are developed and delivered in line with company standards, operational requirements and customer commitments.
  • Approve timesheets and resource allocations, ensuring the accurate recording of working hours, overtime and scheme-related costs.
  • Support the resolution of customer concerns and contribute to delivering excellent service for both internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical input to tendering, bid submissions and business development activities, helping secure and deliver new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with managers and stakeholders across the business to improve processes, enhance quality, maintain compliance, increase operational performance and achieve business objectives.
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve operational targets, drive continuous improvement and deliver against business plan commitments.
Please note:
  • Please note, whilst this is a leadership role, there will still be a requirement for the individual to carry out paid overtime utilising their operational live working authorisations
  • In addition, if any internal applicants are currently undergoing on-job-training we will aim to honour any ongoing training / upskilling to support your career development
