Job summary

NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking a Podiatry Assistant Practitioner to support the podiatry team in delivering high-quality care for patients with complex foot conditions. You will work under remote supervision, assist in wound care, nail surgery, and MSK service delivery across multiple sites.

You will supervise Band 3 HCWs, contribute to service development, and help produce orthotics. A proactive, collaborative approach and ability to travel between sites are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in healthcare support work, ideally in podiatry or wound care.
• Ability to travel independently across multiple sites.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for service development.
• Confidence working independently with remote supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in high-risk wound care during ward rounds and domiciliary visits
• Support nail surgery procedures as part of a redesigned service model
• Contribute to MSK service delivery and HEAT targets
• Prepare and manage documentation for the multidisciplinary foot clinic
• Collaborate with data analysts to support Podiatry caseload management
• Supervise and mentor Band 3 HCSWs, including 1:2:1s and annual reviews
• Manufacture and distribute orthotics to support mobility
