Job summary

Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is seeking a PMO Manager to lead a large, complex programme and establish proportionate standards, controls and reporting to ensure delivery is well governed and outcome-focused.

Reporting to the Change Directorate, you will provide PMO advice, insight and assurance throughout the lifecycle, while developing the PMO team and ensuring effective planning, governance, risk, and benefits management to support senior decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a PMO in a complex project/programme landscape.
• Strong knowledge of planning, governance, assurance, reporting, risks and change control.
• Experience with budgets, forecasting, monitoring costs and financial risks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the PMO function and develop the team, setting standards and priorities across the programme.
• Establish and improve controls for plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, change, benefits, resources and reporting.
• Maintain governance and coordinate assurance including gateway reviews as required.
• Oversee integrated plans, milestone reporting, dashboards and performance information for senior leaders.
• Set standards for identifying, managing and escalating risks, issues and dependencies linked to decisions.
• Support creation and maintenance of business cases and track benefits and investments.
• Coordinate budgets, forecasts, actuals and resource information with finance and delivery colleagues.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and provide practical support and insight across functions.
• Improve PMO processes and reporting, sharing learning and best practice across APHA.
• Provide credible, pragmatic support to turn strategy into delivery and keep focus on outcomes.
