Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking a dedicated PMLD Teacher to join a welcoming SEN school in Romford. The role focuses on planned, highly differentiated lessons for pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

QTS is essential; experience with PMLD, EHCP targets, and sensory/alternative communication methods (Makaton/PECS) is required. A DBS update and ability to lead Teaching Assistants are also desired.

Qualifications

• QTS is essential for this role.
• Experience teaching pupils with PMLD or complex SEN.
• Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching methods.
• Experience using sensory-based teaching and alternative communication methods.
• Ability to lead and support a team of Teaching Assistants.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, sensory-based lessons tailored to pupils with PMLD.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet complex learning, physical and communication needs.
• Develop and implement individual learning plans in line with EHCP targets.
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and other specialists.
• Support pupils' communication using Makaton, PECS and sensory resources.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress using SEN assessment frameworks.
• Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support pupils' personal, social and emotional development.
