Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 9-18 with PMLD, ASD and complex physical needs at a specialist Newham school. The role is full-time, term-time only, starting September 2026 in the London Borough of Newham.

Pay is daily at 95–105 GBP, with responsibilities including 1:1 and small group support, sensory-based learning activities and aiding communication (PECS, Makaton, AAC).

Qualifications

• Experience as a PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant (or similar).
• Strong understanding of ASD, PMLD & complex needs.
• Confident with personal care duties.
• Calm, resilient, and hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support.
• Deliver sensory-based learning activities.
• Support communication (PECS, Makaton, AAC).
• Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility (essential).
