Job summary

Amey Group Services LTD on the Ministry of Justice account in Cardiff is seeking a Permanent Plumber to deliver planned and reactive maintenance at HMP Cardiff. You will work standard hours (39 per week, 8:00-17:00, Mon-Fri) with a 1 in 3 weekend pattern and a 15% allowance, ensuring safe, compliant operations.

You will handle fault finding, water systems, mains supply repairs, monitor the BMS, support sustainability goals, and respond to tasks set by your line manager in a challenging custodial

Responsibilities

• Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across the contract.
• Performing statutory works on time, ensuring compliance.
• Conducting routine and non-routine maintenance, including fault finding and repairs.
• Inspecting, sampling water, and assessing risks to maintain system integrity.
• Repairing mains water supply and address life-expired equipment.
• Monitoring the BMS System to ensure optimal performance.
• Supporting zero carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals.
• Handling additional tasks as directed by your line manager, including working at height and in various weather conditions.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Plumber to come and join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Cardiff, Knox Rd, Cardiff CF24 0UG

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

Plumbers plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. (8:00am-5pm mon-fri with 1 hour lunch. And a 1 in 3 weekend shift pattern with a 15% allowance.
