Job summary

Trainline is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Atlas Infrastructure Engineering and Tooling team. You will contribute to scalable, secure infrastructure, implement changes with Terraform, and apply least-privilege security across AWS accounts.

You’ll build automation in Node.js or Python, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with Tech Leads and Delivery Managers to plan work. The role expects hands-on experience with Python/Node.js/C#, AWS, Terraform and CI/CD, and offers a hybrid

Qualifications

• Proven software engineering experience with Python, Node.js or C#.
• Strong understanding of AWS services and security best practices.
• Experience delivering infrastructure via Terraform and IaC tooling.
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, GitHub Actions and automation.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable code and scripts.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to improvements across Trainline’s engineering platforms, building scalable, reliable and secure infrastructure that supports teams across the business.
• Implement infrastructure changes with Terraform, following existing module patterns and suggesting ideas to improve quality, maintainability and automation.
• Apply least-privilege and secure-by-default principles across our AWS accounts, helping our infrastructure meet Trainline’s standards for security and operational excellence.
• Build and improve automation, services and tooling in Node.js or Python to make delivery faster, safer and more repeatable.
• Learn and grow with your colleagues through code reviews, pairing and shared knowledge, giving and receiving constructive feedback along the way.
• Work with Tech Leads, Delivery Managers and cross-functional colleagues to understand priorities, plan your work and manage dependencies.
• Raise risks, blockers and questions early, helping the team keep delivery moving at a sustainable pace.
• Test, validate and deploy infrastructure changes through CI/CD pipelines, making sure they are robust, well documented and ready for production.
