Job summary

Lorien is seeking a Platform Engineer in the Glasgow/Edinburgh hybrid with a Terraform focus to automate and improve cloud infrastructure. You will join a team turning manual infrastructure work into self-serve, reliable platforms that other engineering teams can use with minimal hand-holding.

The role emphasizes IaC, cloud tooling, and collaboration with senior engineers to shape the platform model while offering growth and upskilling opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven IaC experience with Terraform.
• Hands-on production workloads in a major public cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Proficient with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Split time between hands-on build work and platform collaboration with product engineering, operations, security and compliance.
• Own platform work end-to-end from build to testing, documentation and handover.
• Define done criteria, tests, rollback plans and operational handover.
• Develop and maintain pipelines and automation for cloud-based SaaS environments using IaC, DevOps pipelines, configuration automation and scripting.
• Create reusable templates, modules and runbooks for wide reuse.
• Engage in design discussions and code reviews; mentor others.
• Highlight risks and dependencies early with proposed options.
• Keep documentation current for future teams.
