Job summary

Archer, in partnership with HSBC, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the team working on the Digital Hosting Platform (DHP). This on-premises, controls-first hosting platform powers software delivery for HSBC across teams.

You’ll design, build and operate robust microservices, mentor developers, and partner with product owners while maintaining strong security and observability.

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience with DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE.
• Solid understanding of HTTP, DNS, TLS, load balancing, proxies, service meshes and API gateways in microservices.
• Strong programming ability in Java, Python, Node, JavaScript or Clojure.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring/observability tools like Grafana and InfluxDB.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Owners to understand requirements and break work into deliverables.
• Design and build robust, scalable microservices with high observability and supportability.
• Own deliverables end-to-end from design through deployment and timelines.
• Provide rapid production support; diagnose incidents and implement long-term fixes.
• Serve as a technical consultant for platform users and unblock teams quickly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and coordinate stakeholder activities.
• Proactively manage technical debt and maintain security posture.
• Mentor junior developers and promote a high-performing team culture.
