Job summary

Archer, collaborating with HSBC, seeks a Technical Lead - API to lead the CTO Developer Platforms, Standards and Controls team in the UK. You’ll guide delivery across a new product that inventories APIs, assesses compliance with HSBC API standards, and provides compliant designs to support delivery.

You will mentor development teams, refine API standards, and explore AI opportunities to enhance delivery. The role focuses on end-to-end user journeys for customers.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on software development across multiple languages/frameworks.
• Strong grounding in design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and architecture.
• Experience applying AI to software development patterns/processes at scale.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to guide teams.
• Product/project management capability: planning, resourcing, delivery.
• Strong analytical skills for complex technical challenges.
• Experience in a control environment or with Technology controls.
• Experience working in a global organisation with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Be a proactive, collaborative member of the Standards and Controls leadership team.
• Act as a key technical leader, overseeing delivery from inception to completion.
• Shape and refine HSBC API standards, gathering customer feedback and iterating.
• Explore AI opportunities integrated into standards and tooling.
• Lead product planning and prioritisation aligned to future API standards vision.
• Align roadmaps with customers at the centre of change.
• Champion data and metrics to understand and improve customer outcomes.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams; ensure best practices.
