Job summary

hackajob is partnering with Leonardo to hire for a Platform Engineer role in Edinburgh. The position focuses on building and operating core infra, container platforms and hosting for our engineering platform, with hybrid working and on-site requirements.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, mentoring, security, reliability and observability, with exposure to CI/CD, cloud, Linux and scripting across multiple tech stacks.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux server administration.
• Experience with cloud platforms, virtualization and containers.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management.
• Programming/scripting in Python, Bash or Go.
• Experience with monitoring, observability and SRE practices.
• Experience in infrastructure, networking and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience in secure, resilient and scalable system design.
• Experience in technical documentation and operational guidance.
• Technical leadership and mentoring experience.
• Problem solving and engineering judgement.
• Experience supporting business-critical platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and software delivery lifecycles.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Curiosity and drive for continuous improvement.
• BPSS baseline screening; potential for SC/DV.

Responsibilities

• Shape, build and operate the infrastructure and services underpinning the engineering platform.
• Own core development tools and infrastructure including compute, containers and hosting.
• Provide technical guidance and help teams adopt best practices.
• Improve reliability and reduce operational risk and manual effort.
• Use cloud platforms, container orchestration, IaC and automation to deliver secure services.
• Investigate complex issues and improve observability.
