Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to lead secure platform design and delivery across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership in a fast-paced defence and security context.

You will mentor engineers, translate complex customer needs into architecture, and guide project delivery within a strict security regime. This permanent role offers hybrid working from Yeovil with clear career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Windows and Linux OS.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).
• Knowledge of Privileged Access Management concepts and CyberArk or similar.
• Understanding of secure credential storage and access control.
• Automation and scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Experience with cloud/Hybrid environments and DevSecOps tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for platform domains and deliver secure platforms.
• Lead design across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Capture and translate complex customer requirements into designs.
• Develop high- and low-level designs aligned with security principles.
• Own delivery within work packages, including planning and reporting.
• Mentor engineers to raise technical capability.
