Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Surgical Registered Nurse for the Plastic Surgery Ward and Assessment Unit. The post is part-time, with day or night shifts, working alongside Plastic Surgeons and nursing teams in Gate 28 & 28c.

You will deliver patient-centred care from pre-op to discharge, supervise junior staff, and contribute to a MDT approach in a busy surgical environment within the Trust.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with the NMC or on an NMC approved programme due to register within 12 months.
• Professional, clinical knowledge gained through degree-level training.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current nursing issues, research and practice.
• Ability to plan, assess, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Prioritise tasks and work well in a Multidisciplinary Team.
• Delegate and co-ordinate patient care; supervise learners in practice.
• Dexterity for clinical skills including cannulation, venepuncture and catheters.
• Administer medicines using various routes; IT skills to use hospital systems.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of the department on days or nights.
• 11.5 hour shifts caring for patients on Ward or Assessment Unit.
• Support Nursing Associates and Clinical Support Workers within the team.
• Assess, evaluate and implement patient-centred care using evidence-based practice.
• Involve perioperative care and discharge planning; assist in local anaesthetic procedures.
