Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to assume the Senior Charge Nurse role in Ward 47, Plastic Surgery at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will lead a team of Registered Nurses and HCSWs, delivering safe, effective patient care across elective and emergency plastic surgery services.

Job description

The Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to take on the role of Senior Charge Nurse (SCN) within Ward 47, Plastic Surgery, at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The postholder will lead a team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs), providing clinical leadership and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective patient care across elective and emergency Plastic Surgery services.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Permanent, full-time - 36 Hours per week

Shift pattern - Monday - Friday 0630-1430; may require adjusting start and finish times to support service

Base location - Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • Registered Nurse qualification with significant post-registration nursing experience.
  • Experience within Plastic Surgery is desirable.
  • A post-registration qualification in Plastic Surgery would be advantageous.
  • Strong clinical leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think critically and make sound clinical decisions.
  • Understanding of care assurance standards and quality improvement principles.
