Job description

We are currently looking to recruit a Plant Support Engineer for a West Midland-based tier 1 supplier of injection moulded assemblies, supplying across the UK automotive sector.

Working across a three-shift system (6-2, 2-10, and 10-6), the Plant Support Engineer will work closely with Launch/NPI Teams and collaborate with maintenance engineering teams.

The Plant Support Engineer will:

1. Have the ability to read and interpret PLC code to fault find, mainly on Siemens systems.
2. Assist key functions in the launch team on problem resolution related to PLCs.
3. Understand the movement and recovery of robotic systems within manufacturing and assembly facilities.
4. Possess an excellent understanding of error messages, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions to reduce failures.
5. Have a clear and detailed awareness of vision systems and sensors, with the ability to diagnose faults across all sensors, cameras, and vision systems to ensure right-first-time quality.

The successful candidate will have solid understanding of Siemens S7 in line with TIA Portal and be experienced with one or more of the following: Kepware, Sorion, ABB Robots, FANUC Robots.

The Plant Support Engineer should demonstrate significant experience working in an automotive and engineering environment, with particular knowledge of robotic systems, fault finding, and general maintenance (PPM).

Additional requirements include:

• Knowledge of PLC programming and fault diagnosis with the ability to fix issues.
• Programming and fault-finding experience in TIA Portal.
• Ability to apply PFMEA logic to identify and manage risks and feasibility.
• Knowledge of Keyence vision/camera and sensor systems is desirable.
