Job summary

Astute People is recruiting a Plant Operator for an Energy from Waste facility in Worcestershire. The role requires operating a continuous process plant, monitoring from the control room, and upholding safety and procedural standards.

A Navy leaver or prior heavy industrial exposure is beneficial, with a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. You will monitor performance, complete logs, and support incident response while contributing to long-term progression

Qualifications

• Experience working shifts within a continuous process or industrial environment.
• Experience within power generation, Energy from Waste, defence or a similar operational environment would be advantageous.
• Understanding of industrial plant operations, safe working practices and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Good computer literacy with the ability to operate computer-based control and monitoring systems.
• Happy to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate the Energy from Waste facility in line with operational procedures.
• Monitor and control plant operations from the central control room using computer-based control systems.
• Carry out routine plant inspections, operational checks and testing to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
• Monitor plant performance and identify any issues or abnormalities, escalating where required.
• Monitor CCTV and site security systems as part of the safe and secure operation of the facility.
• Record, analyse and report operational data accurately throughout the shift.
• Raise work requests and report plant defects or maintenance requirements when identified.
• Support emergency response procedures and follow operational instructions during incidents.
• Monitor consumables and residue levels to help maintain continuous plant operation.
• Complete accurate shift logs and detailed handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts.

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit a Plant Operator to work at an Energy from Waste plant in Worcestershire.

The Plant Operator role comes with a competitive salary and benefits package.

If you're an experienced operator within a heavy industrial setting, preferably with steam raising plant, or a Navy leaver looking to build on their watchkeeping experience.

Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Operator role
