Job summary

The Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford seeks a highly motivated Scientist in Molecular Biology for a plant biotechnology research programme. You will design experiments, generate data, and contribute to publications and IP.

You will collaborate across AI, automation, and generative biology to translate discoveries into real-world applications. Ideal candidates hold a PhD with >5 years postdoctoral experience in plant molecular biology, and are adept at cloning, libraries, and high-throughput

Qualifications

• PhD with more than 5 years postdoctoral experience in molecular biology labs.
• Experience designing and deploying gene libraries for plant trait engineering.
• Hands-on GFP/NGS workflows and complex cloning techniques.
• Ability to design, optimise, and troubleshoot automated workflows.
• Proven track record in publishing and IP development.

Responsibilities

• Drive rigorous experimental design & data interpretation for stage-gated milestones.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new techniques.
• Present work at seminars and external meetings; contribute to IP discussions.
• Mentor junior researchers and support translational efforts to commercial outcomes.
• Advance plant biotechnology projects toward lab-to-market impact.
