The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford seeks a Scientist to join the Cell Based Production programme, focusing on plant specialised metabolism engineering from discovery to scalable production for foods and medicines. You will work on analytical methods and computational support to advance decarbonised plant-based production within a collaborative research environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in organic chemistry, natural product biochemistry, plant molecular biology or related field.
• Extraction, purification and de novo structural elucidation of natural products.
• Experience in small molecule synthesis and characterization.
• Collaborative experience with cross-disciplinary teams (synthetic biology or molecular biology).

Responsibilities

• Support metabolic engineering of plant natural products in a collaborative setting.
• Design metabolomics studies for plant specialised metabolism in complex mixtures.
• Develop libraries based on chromatographic and MS features.
• Understand carbon flux to aid model building and bottleneck prediction.
• Collaborate with AI and robotics teams to establish high-throughput analytical procedures.
• Deliver progress through stage-gated milestones and robust analyses.
• Present work at seminars and external meetings, respecting disclosures.
• Identify IP opportunities and assist in patent-related activities.
