Job summary

Astute People’s Renewable's Team is partnering with a renewable energy provider to recruit a Plant Manager for its anaerobic digestion site in Gloucestershire. The Plant Manager role comes with a salary of £55k, a £5k bonus, plus a £550 per month car allowance.

If you're an experienced Plant Manager with a background in AD, waste, engineering or production and are looking to take responsibility for the safe, optimised and efficient running of an operational plant.

Qualifications

• Degree in related discipline and/or WAMITAB qualification.
• NEBOSH qualification.
• Engineering background, ideally mechanical or electrical.
• Knowledge of the waste industry and/or anaerobic digestion sector.
• Lean Management or Six Sigma qualification would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe, optimised and efficient running of the AD plant and wider business.
• Lead budgeting and planning, high-level operations, feedstock management, digestate agreements and capital projects.
• Manage and coordinate stakeholders across the site.
• Develop and optimise feeding plans and plant biology to support efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and site permits.
• Track, analyse and report on KPIs and regulatory data.
• Lead the Engineering Team and the wider AD team including training and welfare.
• Lead continuous improvement and efficiency projects across the plant.
• Manage HSE compliance and safety policies across site operations.
• Oversee data for regulatory submissions and claims.
• Support profitability and monthly financial reporting with Finance.

If you're an experienced Plant Manager with a background in AD, waste, engineering or production and are looking to take responsibility for the safe, optimised and efficient running of an operational plant.

Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Manager role

• Lead the safe, optimised and efficient running of the AD plant and wider business.
• Lead business budgeting and planning, high-level operations, feedstock management, digestate agreements and capital projects.
• Manage and coordinate stakeholders across the site.
• Develop and optimise feeding plans and plant biology to support efficient and profitable operations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements and site permits.
• Track, analyse and report on key performance indicators.
• Ensure timely submission of regulatory data required for the valorisation of green energy across gas and electricity.
• Lead the Engineering Team, prioritising daily and ad-hoc tasks.
• Take responsibility for the wider AD team, including training, qualifications, welfare and disciplinary matters.
• Lead continuous improvement and efficiency projects across the plant.
• Manage HSE compliance and ensure safety policies and Codes of Conduct are followed across site operations.
• Oversee data for OFGEM ROC and RHI submissions and claims.
• Support profitability management and monthly financial reporting alongside the Finance team.
• Manage digestate disposal and processing to maintain PAS 110 compliance.
• Lead regulatory reporting, audits and inspections.
• Take ownership of capital projects and associated risk management, including job hazard analysis, work orders and RAMS.
• Maintain effective data management, collection and KPI reporting.

Professional qualifications

• Degree in a related discipline and/or WAMITAB qualification.
• NEBOSH qualification.
• An engineering background, ideally mechanical or electrical.
• Knowledge of the waste industry and/or anaerobic digestion sector.
• Knowledge of chemical or biological processes would be advantageous.
• Understanding of financial and regulatory compliance.
• Previous experience working within a production or operational plant environment or the waste sector.
• Experience with project management.
• Experience managing customer relationships and stakeholders.
• Lean Management or Six Sigma qualification would be desirable.

• Potential travel within the UK, primarily the Midlands, with rare EU travel.
