We are seeking an Electrical Plant Maintenance Fitter to join the Plant Facilities Team at the REW, Acton Town. You will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of Building Facilities Plant equipment and Workshop equipment.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform statutory and preventative maintenance on relevant plant and equipment.
- Diagnose faults on all types of mechanical or electrical plant equipment.
- Repair, recondition, and service all types of mechanical or electrical static and mobile plant and equipment within workshops or sites, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
- Sign off certification for maintained/repaired equipment and complete all necessary paperwork and reports.
- Manufacture replacement parts as required for repairs.
- Erect electrical installations for plant and equipment according to design specifications and contribute to installation design with colleagues.
- Use portable plant and power tools correctly.
- Work safely at heights and in confined spaces.
- Assist other staff in production or work as required.
- Understand and comply with London Underground safety practices regarding smoking, alcohol, drugs, and attendance.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Completed an appropriate Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent. Essential.
- Possess Electrical C&G qualifications to Level 3, including C&G 2391-52 Testing & Inspection or equivalent, and be familiar with electrical test equipment. Essential.
- Portable Appliance testing qualification (C&G 2377) is desirable.
- Ability to install, inspect, and test to British Standard 7671, 18th Edition, and relevant legislation. Essential.
- Ability to read manufacturers' specifications or drawings. Essential.
- Ability to correctly use PPE without direction. Essential.
- Good housekeeping skills. Essential.
- Effective communication skills with managers, staff, and customers. Essential.
- Current IPAF Licence is desirable.
- Fork truck experience is desirable.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience with 3-phase installations and motor controls. Essential.
- Good fault diagnostic skills. Desirable.
- Ability to read and understand O&M manuals and engineering standards. Essential.
- Knowledge of building facilities maintenance and repairs.
- Thorough understanding of rules and regulations such as H&S 1974, COSHH, LOLER, etc. Desirable.
