DCS Engineer – London, UK



Key responsibilities and main tasks:

• Implement engineering specifications and ensure quality assurance in procurement processes for materials, equipment, and services, ensuring compliance with sound engineering practices and cost efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to all Project HSE requirements, emphasizing safety throughout all design activities. Contribute actively to developing a safety culture on the project.
• Oversee the implementation of the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS), integrating systems such as Process Control System (PCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), Fire and Gas Detection System (FGDS), Subsea Control System (SCS), Electrical Monitoring and Control System (EMCS), Equipment Monitoring System (EMS), and Marine Environmental Monitoring System (MEMS).
• Manage interfaces between the plant and subsea components and coordinate with onshore and subsea contractors for proper interface implementation.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for DCS/ESD/F&G systems.
• Engage in P&ID reviews, HAZOP, and other safety review meetings.
• Coordinate efforts with Contractor DCS Engineering site leads to address all technical issues.
• Identify operational risks and opportunities related to DCS design, working with Process Safety teams to ensure safeguards and mitigations are in place for safe operations.
• Oversee and coordinate contractor planning and execution, focusing on instrumentation engineering but also understanding multidisciplinary engineering and procurement activities.
• Support the Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer in ensuring compliance with the DCS aspects of the EPC contract during project execution.
• During site activities, respond promptly to queries and technical issues, oversee punch list completion, on-site testing, and erection of equipment.

Experience required:

• Degree in Engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer registration, PE, or equivalent preferred.
• Proficiency in English.
• Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in Oil and Gas and large projects.
• Supervisory experience in plant and project engineering, with increasing responsibilities.
