Job summary

British Gypsum, at the East Leake plaster production facility, seeks an Electrical Craftsperson (Maintenance Engineer) to maintain and improve our gypsum plant. The role is days-based, 8am–4pm, with some out-of-hours flexibility due to 24/7 operations, and offers a fantastic salary with a bonus and healthcare options.

You will join a highly skilled team focused on preventative maintenance, repairs, and some installation work, driving improvements and ensuring safe, reliable plant operation.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship; ideally qualified to HNC or NVQ3 Mechanical with relevant industrial experience.
• Experience in professional maintenance with fault finding and root cause analysis.
• Computer literacy; able to use digital maintenance tools.
• Flexible attitude to working hours and deployment essential.
• Attention to detail and persistence in problem solving.
• Experience with permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work (risk assessments and method statements).
• Experience using CMMS and contributing to maintenance planning.
• Continuous improvement mindset with Lean/WCM methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and some installation work as part of a skilled team.
• Support ongoing improvements to plant equipment.
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules in a CMMS and raise work orders for issues.
• Collaborate with engineering and production operators to keep plant running optimally.
• Identify solutions through fault finding, root cause analysis and lean tool application while following safety protocols.

At our flagship British Gypsum manufacturing facility in East Leake, we are seeking an Electrical Craftsperson (Maintenance Engineer). This a great opportunity to join a highly skilled team dedicated to the ongoing improvement and maintenance of our gypsum plaster production plant, the largest of its kind in Europe.

British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we're very proud of.

This is a days-based role working Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm. Please note we are a 24/7 plant and would therefore require some flexibility out of hours in case of business needs. What We're Looking For

• The applicant will ideally have served a recognised electrical apprenticeship ideally qualified to HNC or demonstrate a minimum of NVQ3 Mechanical or comparable qualification with relevant industrial experience.
• Experience in Professional Maintenance, with skills in fault finding and route cause analysis.
• Computer literacy
• A flexible and willing approach to working hours and deployment is essential
• Attention to detail and persistence will be evident in the successful candidate
• Experience in using permit to work systems and other safe systems of work such as conducting risk assessments and method statements.
• Experience in using a CMMS system and contributing to writing maintenance planning.
• A continuous improvement mindset with experience of Lean Manufacturing/WCM methodologies

What you will be doing:

• Work as part of a highly skilled team tasked with delivering focused preventative scheduled maintenance, reactive repairs, and some installation work
• You'll be supporting the ongoing improvement of plant equipment.
• You'll follow preventative maintenance schedules in a CMMS system, completing daily walk arounds, and creating work orders against issues identified.
• Interact with our wider engineering team and production Operators, ensuring plant is performing to optimal levels.
• You will be tasked with identifying solutions through fault finding, root cause analysis and the application of lean tools, while ensuring that safety protocols are always followed.
