Job summary

British Gypsum, part of Saint-Gobain, seeks a Mechanical Plant Fitter for our East Leake manufacturing site in Leicestershire. You will handle both planned and reactive mechanical engineering work to keep production running and meet customer demand.

The role requires an apprentice-trained mechanical engineer with a continuous improvement mindset, strong problem solving and communication skills, and familiarity with CMMS INFOR EAM and MS Office. Flexible hours may be required for a 24/7 plant.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level III in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in a production or manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reactive and planned engineering works on equipment including grinding mills, blow pots, forming and conveying belts, screw conveyors, etc.
• Use root cause analysis to solve problems and communicate relevant data to prevent reoccurrence regarding maintenance problems.
• Autonomous maintenance tasks.
• Liaise with contractors and shift electrician, working collaboratively on projects.
• Use the CMMS system (INFOR EAM) to plan your work, complete job reports, and order spares; proficiency with Microsoft packages is essential.
