Job summary
The Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford is seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist in Plant Cell Screening and Photosynthesis Engineering to lead the development of a plant cell-based screening platform for carbon fixation and related metabolic pathways.
You will work on identifying improved enzyme variants, validating pathways in whole plants, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to translate research into real-world applications.
Qualifications
- PhD in relevant plant biology or closely related field.
- Strong research background with plant cell-based methods.
- Experience engineering photosynthesis or carbon fixation.
- Experience with plant cell cultures including CRISPR-based edits.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of a plant cell-based screening platform to assess carbon fixation.
- Develop quantitative methods to measure carbon fixation in plant cells.
- Identify improved photosynthesis enzyme variants and engineered pathways.
- Advance enzyme variants into whole plants for crop improvement.
- Contribute to IP generation and translation of results to commercial opportunities.
