Job summary
The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford is seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist in Plant Cell Screening and Photosynthesis Engineering to lead the development of a plant cell-based screening platform for carbon fixation and to identify improved photosynthesis enzymes and pathways.
You will drive IP generation and translate research into commercial opportunities aligned with EIT's humane tech mission.
Qualifications
- PhD in plant biology, physiology, photosynthesis, synthetic biology or related discipline.
- Experience developing or applying cell-based methods to measure carbon fixation and photosynthetic activity.
- Experience engineering photosynthesis or carbon fixation in plants.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of a plant cell-based screening platform to assess carbon fixation.
- Develop quantitative methods to measure carbon fixation rates in plant cell suspensions.
- Advance enzyme variants and pathways into whole plants for validation.
- Drive rigorous experimental design and data interpretation for robust outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge research techniques.
