Job summary

National Grid’s Planning Team Leader role is based at Alfreton Depot, covering Chesterfield and Mansfield. You will supervise Planners and Admin Assistants, ensuring work is scheduled, delivered efficiently and in line with Health & Safety requirements.

You will drive performance through 1:1 coaching, lead productivity, and deliver excellent customer service while building strong relationships and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent communicator, well organised and able to problem-solve and plan ahead.
• Proven track record of managing teams and meeting targets, with escalation point experience for stakeholders.
• Understanding of Health & Safety Legislation and Electricity Safety/Quality & Continuity regulations, or willingness to develop quickly.
• Ability to understand NGED planning and design policies.
• Understanding of the distribution business or ability to develop quickly.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and drive performance.
• Commercial and financial awareness.
• Full, valid UK/EU driving licence.

Responsibilities

• The effective performance of your team, driving performance and productivity improvement through individual 1:1s
• Monitor Connection dashboards; including BMCS Time to Connect, Time to Quote, GS & KPIs
• Support the Planning Operations Manager and lead your team to ensure full compliance of H&S policy
• Coordinate programmes of work to ensure the productivity of Planners & Field based teams
• Monitor efficiency & finances of small projects and project closure process
• Approve customer refunds on SSA / SSB enquiries within financial authorisation limits
• Review / approve contractor invoices in crown for SSA / SSB projects
• Support team with Quotation and Delivery issues.
• Ensure work is carried out in line with policy & operating procedures.
• Ensure our people have theappropriatetraining and work authorisations to support a safe and productive working environment
• Respond quickly and professionally to customer complaints
