Job summary

Rutland County Council is looking for an experienced Planning Support Team Leader to guide the Planning Support team within the Development Management section. You will monitor performance, supervise staff, and ensure planning applications and related processes meet statutory timescales.

You will coordinate workloads, provide technical guidance, and develop systems to improve efficiency and customer service while liaising with applicants and the public.

Qualifications

• Experience as planning support administrator with strong organisational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel and planning systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily work of the Planning Support team.
• Oversee validation and processing of planning applications and appeals.
• Support performance monitoring and service improvements.
• Maintain planning systems, online portals and electronic records.
• Issue statutory planning documentation and provide technical guidance.
• Liaise with applicants, agents, consultees, councillors and the public.
• Contribute to new processes to improve efficiency and customer service.
