Job summary

Winchester City Council is inviting applications for a Planning Officer to join the Development Management team. The role focuses on shaping Winchester’s historic city and surrounding areas, balancing growth with the protection of natural, built and historic environments.

You will manage a varied caseload of planning applications and appeals, working with applicants, consultees and elected members to deliver sustainable development. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Interest in the built, natural and historic environment.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to assess information and make balanced, well-reasoned recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of planning applications, pre-applications and appeals.
