Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Planner to support the Ground Engineering and Piling business, joining the team at the Tilbury JV office. The role focuses on developing resourced programmes, communicating scope, and providing advisory support on programme-related matters.

You will work with project teams across civil engineering and HV power projects, using planning tools to analyze risks and deliver visuals for management. A detailed, methodical approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience on Civil Engineering and/or Construction projects.
  • Experience working on HV Power, Transmission & Distribution Projects.
  • Use of planning software (P6, Asta, TILOS, QSRA).
  • Active experience of working with a wide range of planning techniques in serving both tendering and contract delivery.
  • A clear understanding of the commercial and contractual interfaces with the planning function.
  • Understanding of Project Controls and how to create simple and effective visuals.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain the relationship with project teams.
  • Assimilate information and summarise it for work scope communication.
  • Prepare a resourced programme and review conformance with expectations.
  • Contribute to the risk register and undertake programme risk analysis.
  • Prepare visuals in support of planned methods.
  • Manage project documentation in an orderly fashion.
  • Support the team as an advisor on contractual programme matters.
  • Train Project teams to read and use the programme effectively.
  • Set up and maintain Project Controls to evaluate status and flag challenges.
  • Handle multiple projects and submissions with organisation and attention to detail.

Murphy is recruiting for a Planner to work within our Ground Engineering and Piling Business, supporting Lower Thames Crossing from our JV office, in Tilbury. Our engineering teams represent a multi-disciplined range of engineering skills, adding value across all our sectors, and pushing the boundaries of digital construction, engineering innovation and design to deliver intelligent, sustainable and economical engineering solutions.

A Day in the life of a Murphy Planner:
  • Establish and maintain the relationship with project teams
  • Assimilate information and summarise it in a manner that can be used to communicate the work scope to others
  • Prepare a resourced programme, including reviewing the outcome for conformance with expectations and requirements
  • Contribute to the risk register and undertake programme risk analysis
  • Prepare visual material in support of planned methods
  • Manage personally controlled project documentation in an orderly fashion
  • Support the team as experienced advisor on programme related contractual matters
  • Train Project teams to read and use the programme in the most effective way
  • Set up and maintain Project Controls that allow to evaluate the project status and flag any potential challenge
  • Handle multiple projects and submissions through organisation and eye for detail
