Job summary

J. Murphy & Sons Ltd is recruiting a Senior Planner to work on the EGL1 Project in Durham within the Energy sector. The role leverages our in-house expertise to deliver major HV transmission and distribution infrastructure.

You will assimilate information, prepare resourced programmes, contribute to risk analysis, and manage documentation, coordinating with estimators and design engineers. Experience on civil engineering/construction projects and HV power projects, with proficiency in P6, Asta,

Qualifications

• Civil engineering experience on major projects.
• Experience on HV Power, Transmission & Distribution projects.
• Familiar with a wide range of planning techniques for tendering and contract delivery.
• Understanding of commercial and contractual interfaces with the planning function.

Responsibilities

• Assimilate information and summarise it for work scope communication.
• Prepare a resourced programme and check conformance with requirements.
• Contribute to the risk register and perform programme risk analysis.
• Prepare visual material to support planned methods.
• Manage project documentation in an orderly fashion.
• Define methods and outputs with the estimator and supply chain in appropriate circumstances.
• Liaise with the design engineer to establish a design brief for temporary works.
• Provide the estimator with a justified schedule of temporary works and indirect costs.
• Attend the bid review meeting to present the work scope and delivery plan.
• Attend handover meeting to present scope and defined tasks.
• Advise the project team on feedback reports and support, in consultation with the Estimator.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Planner:

• Assimilate information and summarise it in a manner that can be used to communicate the work scope to others.
• Prepare a resourced programme, including reviewing the outcome for conformance with expectations and requirements.
• Contribute to the risk register and undertake programme risk analysis.
• Prepare visual material in support of planned methods.
• Manage personally controlled project documentation in an orderly fashion.
• Define methods and establish outputs, in consultation with the estimator and other team members, including the supply chain in appropriate circumstances.
• Liaise with the design engineer to establish a design brief for temporary works.
• Provide the estimator with a justified schedule of temporary works and other indirect cost items.
• Attend the bid review meeting to contribute a clear view of the work scope and the intentions for delivering it by reference to prepared material.
