VINCI Building UK is seeking a Planner to support a £180m student accommodation project at the University of Southampton. The role will develop and manage detailed programmes, identify risks, and coordinate sequencing across multiple workstreams to ensure on-time delivery.

The candidate will have UK Main Contractor experience, knowledge of ASTA Powerproject, and strong reporting and stakeholder management skills. Site-based, commuting to Southampton is required.

  • Strong understanding of JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Experience developing programmes from tender through to completion.
  • Skilled in critical path analysis and programme optimisation.
  • Experience on complex projects across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, or infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project programmes and schedules using Asta, Excel and P6 software.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, recommending contingency plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with design and estimating teams to ensure buildability and optimized construction sequences.

Job description

VINCI Building are currently looking to recruit a Planner tosupport the delivery of a £180m student accommodation project at the University of Southampton.

With a build programme to 2029, the scheme includes in excess of 1,500 new student beds, along with refurbishment and the restoration of a Grade II listed building.
Designed to operate emission-free, this project will exceed UK net zero carbon targets, along with a commitment to significantly increase affordable student accommodation.

You'll play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the project, providing the vision, structure, and foresight needed by developing and managing detailed programmes, identifying potential risks, and coordinating sequencing across multiple workstreams, you'll help to ensure this project is delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.

Instrumental in planning resources for the project in collaboration with the other members of the project and supply chain team, you will have previous experience working for a UK Main Contractor, able to demonstrate a track record of identifying project issues early to reduce the impact on working programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed project programmes and schedules using Asta, Excel and P6 software
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, recommending contingency plans as needed

  • Identify and produce programmes to demonstrate EOT requirements under the NEC contract
About You
  • Proven experience with a UK Main Contractor
  • Experience with ASTA Powerproject
  • Strong understanding of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Experience developing programmes from tender through to completion
  • Skilled in critical path analysis and programme optimisation
  • Experience on complex projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, commercial, residential, or infrastructure
  • Knowledge of 4D planning and BIM integration (desirable)
  • Strong reporting skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline

This is a crucial site based role, therefore applicants must be able to commute to the project in Southampton on a daily basis.
