Job summary

HS2 Ltd. is seeking a skilled Planning & Project Controls professional for joining our Midlands delivery teams around Birmingham.

The role focuses on planning governance, integration of programme data, cost and risk reporting, and ensuring adherence to HS2 requirements across large-scale infrastructure works. You will work with Primavera, MS Project and other tools while supporting delivery across major assets like bridges and tunnels.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning & project controls within large complex environments in construction/engineering.
• Good analytical skills with attention to detail and reporting capabilities.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Implement the planning responsibilities document.
• Ensure compliance to HS2 requirements and reporting.
• Capture and integrate current and forecast programme, budget, cost, and risk at asset level.
• Apply best practice and innovative planning approaches.
• Assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve performance.
• Use IT systems for timely and accurate project performance reporting.
• Live the BBV values and maintain Zero Harm focus.
• Collaborate across teams and with site colleagues as needed.
• Prepare and write reports on project progress and controls.

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Key Accountabilities

• Implement the planning responsibilities document.
• Ensure compliance to HS2 requirements.

• Practice best practice and innovation
• Assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve performance
• Effectively using IT and systems as a key enabler for gathering and timely and accurate reporting on project performance
• Live the BBV values
• Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm

• Some site experience of which some must be in relevant disciplines and some as a discipline planner.
• Aptitude for logic and attention to detail.

• A working knowledge of methods of project controls, planning and performance reporting
• Knowledge of risk
