Job summary

Sandwell College is seeking a Work Placement Officer to join the Foundation Learning team on a fixed-term basis, working 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the academic year. The role focuses on sourcing and coordinating high-quality work placements for learners, including those with SEND, and developing strong employer relationships.

You will support the delivery of Supported Internship placements, carry out safety checks, and monitor learner progress in the workplace, while maintaining records

Qualifications

• Possess a Level 3 qualification or above.
• GCSEs in English and Maths at minimum.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety in a work/training environment.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with employers and external stakeholders.
• Understanding of safeguarding and SEND needs in the workplace.
• Knowledge of Supported Internships or work-based learning is advantageous.
• Own transport for workplace visits; driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Source, organise and coordinate high-quality work placements and internships for learners.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with employers to provide meaningful experiences for learners.
• Support delivery of Supported Internship placements with learners, families, curriculum staff and job coaches.
• Carry out Health & Safety and suitability checks at placement providers.
• Visit learners in the workplace and monitor attendance, progress and behaviour.
• Collaborate with curriculum teams and support staff to provide guidance in the workplace.
• Provide pastoral and practical support to learners to help overcome barriers.
• Maintain accurate records and up-to-date placement documentation and tracking systems.
• Liaise with parents, carers, employers and external agencies to support progression.
• Promote employer engagement through events and forums.
