Job summary

Sandwell College is seeking a Work Placement Officer to join the Foundation Learning team on a fixed-term basis, working 15 hours per week for 38 weeks during term time. You will help learners gain workplace experience and support those with SEND to access meaningful placements.

You will coordinate placements across Foundation Learning and Supported Internships, safeguard learners, and liaise with employers, families and curriculum staff to ensure successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification or above.
• GCSEs in English and Maths.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety in a work/training environment.
• Experience building relationships with employers and external stakeholders.
• Understanding safeguarding needs of young people including SEND.
• Knowledge of Supported Internships or employability programmes is advantageous.
• Have own transport (mileage reimbursed) and ideally a full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Source, organise and coordinate work placements and internship opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employers to provide meaningful experiences.
• Support delivery of Supported Internship placements with learners and staff.
• Carry out Health & Safety and suitability checks at placement providers.
• Visit learners in the workplace and monitor progress and attendance.
• Maintain placement records and documentation up to date.
