Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers a 12-month placement for undergraduates, spanning both design and construction teams. You’ll gain exposure to live projects and travel across the Severn Trent region, contributing to real-world outcomes while aligning with your degree.

You will work on live projects, receive mentorship from seasoned professionals, and have the chance to secure a permanent role after graduation. The role commences Summer 2027 and supports your professional development.

Qualifications

  • Must be studying a full-time undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driving license and access to a car.
  • Willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, design, construction, commissioning, handover and completion of projects.
  • Assist the Project Leader (Designer) with preparation of design, technical drawings and other documentation in line with company processes, procedures and contract requirements.
  • Assist the Site Engineer with setting out line & level of structures and pipework in line with construction drawings using surveying equipment (GPS, total station, dumpy Level, pipe laser).
  • Assist the Site Engineer with carrying out the required quality assurance and completing ITRs (Inspection and test records) in line with company procedures.
  • Assist the Site Manager & Site Engineer with supervising safety, health & environment on site in line with company standards and procedures.
  • Assist the Site Manager & Site Engineer with day-to-day running of the site including requisition of materials and plant and processing of delivery tickets
  • Liaise with designers, support teams and supply chains
  • Assist the Site Engineer with producing as-built surveys and records.
  • Assist the Project Leader (Designer) with compiling completion documentation in line with the client completion process.

About The Role

Our placements last for 12 months, working across both design and construction teams, to offer the broadest exposure to the industry, working on real-world projects that make a difference in communities. It’s a great chance to get involved with live projects while gaining experience relevant to your degree. This role is working within our Severn Trent Water framework, so travel around their region is required.

What You’ll Do
