Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers a 12-month placement across design and construction teams, providing exposure to live projects within the Thames Water framework. You’ll support planning, design and site activities, travelling to sites as required and gaining practical industry experience during a year of professional development.

You’ll work on real projects, benefit from mentorship, and could secure funding for your final academic year, with a potential permanent role after graduation.

Qualifications

• Studying a full-time undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• A valid driving license and use of a car is essential.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel to sites across your operational region.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, design, construction, commissioning, handover and completion of projects.
• Assist the Project Leader (Designer) with preparation of design, technical drawings and other documentation in line with company processes, procedures and contract requirements.
• Assist the Site Engineer with setting out line & level of structures and pipework in line with construction drawings using a variety of surveying equipment (GPS, total station, dumpy Level, pipe laser).
• Assist the Site Engineer with carrying out the required quality assurance and completing ITR's (Inspection and test records) in line with company procedures.
• Assist the Site Manager & Site Engineer with supervising safety, health & environment on site in line with company standards and procedures.
• Assist the Site Manager & Site Engineer with day-to-day running of the site including requisition of materials and plant and processing of delivery tickets.
• Liaise with designers, support teams and supply chains.
• Assist the Site Engineer with producing as-built surveys and records.
• Assist the Project Leader (Designer) with compiling completion documentation in line with the client completion process.

About The Role

Our placements last for 12 months, working across both design and construction teams, to offer the broadest exposure to the industry, working on real-world projects that make a difference in communities. It’s a great chance to get involved with live projects while gaining experience relevant to your degree. This role is working within our Thames Water framework, so travel around their region is required.
