Job Description:

This role involves performing engineering design review and analysis assignments, typically involving major projects or several smaller, less complex projects. These projects require the competent application of conventional knowledge in engineering or science and involve broader, more technically challenging work to develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods, and procedures.

What You Will Do:

• Perform detailed engineering reviews of plans for compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations, and contract commitments with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical advice to field operations and other technical offices.
• Address moderately complex problems, such as conflicting design requirements, material standards, or interdisciplinary coordination.
• Propose new approaches to problems and recommend changes in methods, procedures, or designs.
• Draft accurate and timely reports and responses to communication.
• Interact with clients to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Prepare weekly reports and billing documentation.
• Communicate workload status to team members to meet client needs.
• Work effectively within a team and autonomously when required.
• Implement and maintain ABS Quality System requirements after training.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience:

• Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Marine Engineering with specialization in machinery or piping.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters or PhD graduates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of classification and quality concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of related technical disciplines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and propose solutions.
• Good command of English, both oral and written.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Knowledge of ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems (internal candidates only).
• Valid right to work in the UK.

Reporting Relationships:

The incumbent reports to a senior engineer or technical manager. This position does not have any direct reports.
